Tonight, there will be another one of those rare excursions to the movie theatre. I am perfectly contented if I never see another movie. Pixie, on the other hand, is a movie buff. The compromise is to see a movie once in a while, particularly those with special effects that are best appreciated on a big screen. Jurassic Park was one of those; it was quite breathtaking to hear the boom of the dinasaur's steps and then to see the first view of them. Others we picked included Titanic, King Kong and MI:III. We'll also go if the movie is particularly meaningful like Schindler's List and The Passion. Tonight is especially rare because it will be IMAX ... Superman IMAX.

We have quite a distance to drive to this theatre, so to be sure that we'll get in, I got the tickets online. I could only find it at one place and they charged an additional $1 per ticket ... grumble.

It's been raining off and on in this city all week, and now it looks like it's going to rain again. Hopefully the weather won't be too bad when we take that trek tonight. (Going at the last showing of the day in hopes of avoiding the big crowd.)

Update...
It grumbled and thundered but never rained as far as I could tell. And it was a good thing I got the tickets in advance because they were sold out when we got there. And no, we didn't escape the crowd. Next time, I think we'll opt for the first showing, when the party-goers are most likely still asleep. And yes, the movie was fun. I would rate it a PG-13 only because of the scenes where Superman was kicked around and a scene where Lois is being threatened by a menacing ex-con. Else it was just clean fun.
